A man is on trial for battery against his half brother.
His stepfather is called as a witness, and testifies to things he saw, things he thinks he saw, and things that did not happen.
The defense then asks the witness:
"Sir, isn't it true that you were only present for some of these incidents?"
"Isn't it true that you only saw parts of the incidents?"
"And isn't it true that you did not intervene or seek assistance in intervening in the incidents you were present for?"
"Isn't it true that you yourself instigated the argument between the brothers?"
"Isn't it true that you used to physically abuse the defendant?"
The prosecutor objects to the relevance of this last question.
The defense responds: "Your Honor, the history of abuse in this family is relevant because it goes to the intent, causality, and most importantly at the moment: the credibility of the witness. He has every reason to lie about his own part in this family conflict."
Judge: I'll give you some leeway.
Witness: I never abused him.
Defense: You never abused him? That's really your testimony?
Witness: Yes.
Defense: So your prior seventeen-count convictions of domestic abuse and attempted murder of your stepson aren't proof enough?
Witness: Well sure, that's evidence, but that was so long ago.
Defense: So you did abuse your stepson?
Witness: It's more complicated than that. It wasn't what it looked like.
Defense: So to this day, you still can't take responsibility for abusing your stepson?
Witness:
Defense: And isn't it true that you never paid restitution to him?
Witness: No.
Defense: You never apologized to him sincerely?
Witness: No.
Defense: You never even served more than a few days in jail?
Witness: No.
Defense: And yet you're here, today, asking this court to seek the maximum fines, punitive damages, legal fees, and a life sentence?
Witness: Yes.
Defense: All while having never faced any such consequences for your own behavior and denying your own role in creating this conflict?
Witness: He deserved it then and he deserves it now.
Witness: Besides - if it was really that bad, he should know better himself. It should've been a lesson to him.

You like Bring me the horizon? You know they are anti religion?
I forgot I even posted about them. I do like BMTH and I do know they are anti religion, and with lyrics like, "And when you die the only kingdom you will see if 2 feet wide and 6 feet deep," and, "don't try and tell me that you still believe. Don't preach to me," I am surprised so many people are just figuring that out. To be fully transparent, I respect people's religious freedoms and as long as you are not harming someone or animals, I'm not going to think your someone I could not be friends with due to religious reasons.
I do think this kind of goes to show how people will consume content without actually understanding it. Oliver has made his stance very clear. As have several other bands who are also now being called out for being anti-religion.
Also, this post is not permission to debate religion here. Respect other people and their believes.

I have many bees.
The bees are all around me, stinging those I care for, buzzing in my ears and even stinging me at times. I never asked for the bees. The bees were given to me by people I once knew, or people I still know. People who I trusted or who I grew to resent. But they have bees of their own as well, even as they were passing some of them onto me. Even then, those bees are mine now, and even though I'm not a beekeeper, I must try to manage them and attempt to teach them they don't always have to sting, even if it's all they know or all they were taught. I must also remember that my bees are not to be controlled and I must not shame them. They are their own creatures, and I have to show them the beauty of the flowers, instead of being so wary of the thorns that could be lurking underneath. The bees will learn, in time, as will I.

VAGUE CLUMSY RAMBLINGS ABOUT CLARA + DEATH
Crossover roleplays are so fun in the sense that Clara currently literally flirting with the manifestation of death. shout out to @ladyohdeath. There couldn't be a more apt situation for Clara as a character. tangentially, i feel like the Doctor is more fun and faithful to his legacy when it embraces that the Doctor is inextricably linked with death.
Propping the Doctor as the bringer of life to balance out death succeeds in giving weight to him being a heroic figure. But my favorite take of the Doctor is always as a mad man with a box learning to choose kindness in difficult circumstances. The Doctor often loses people, having to carry on through his survivor's guilt. The Doctor loses himself just as frequently, mourning the death of personal identity while finding comfort in the longevity of his legacy. he doesn't bring death, rather he is death's greatest companion. he embodies the heart within death whereas sutehk represents destruction.
Back to Clara who fears a normal, unremarkable death more than dying itself. Death is woven into the fabric of her existence as much as it is for the Doctor. She tears herself up through the heart of the TARDIS, popping up with a new face in a new time, inviting the Doctor to bear witness and mourn her—a familiar song and dance of his.
Clara, a voracious consumer of stories and adventures, challenges death as the end of things. In her hands, death is the best plot development. She transcends death repeatedly because her death has agency. it has power. Peter Capaldi said it best.
“People always ask me what is it about the show that appeals so broadly. [...] I’m discouraged from giving because it is not useful in the promotion of a brand – is that it’s about death.
Additionally, grieving does not suit Clara—her Dark Water mirroring Twelve's Heaven Sent. she rather flirt with death and court it over and over than have to feel its effects on her. ego and heart both vying for center stage.

Semi negative below the cut -
Here's the thing like...fundamentally, what the majority of the US Tour 6 indicating that they believe "the wrong cat died" really shows to me is that the understanding of the show has been somewhat lost over the years.
This is no disrespect towards any of them, and I believe that joking about this subject is absolutely within an area of general fun and lightheartedness (we do it literally all the time), but at the end of the day it misses the point.
#there’s a difference between joking/poking fun about things not happening and then...legitimately believing them.#extemporize back chat#like...here's the thing - it's about the concept of being deserving of forgiveness#not rewarded or not punished#and sure i will absolutely joke that gus deserves it *at least once let the poor man sleep already*#but like fundamentally and narratively that's not the point#dying and being reborn in Cats is not literal...it's allegorical#it's a metaphor#and it seems like the younger generations are really pushing that 'we have outgrown allegory' angle#because they don't understand it#and here's the thing again like i don't even believe grizabella 'dying' is necessarily the right choice#in purely objectional fact because it makes it seem like they would rather be rid of her than deal with the enormous work forgiveness takes#but we're not *dealing* in purely objective and interpretive fact - we're dealing with by saying grizabella was the wrong cat to die#you are inadvertently saying that she did not deserve to be forgiven#which like *fair* you are absolutely within your right to read the show that way but like...just say that#that's where the subjective reading comes in#and no i don't think they all legit believe this - they're doing a bit or doing it in character or just answering for the sake of answering#but still#it's a purposeful push of ignorance from the host#idk i was thinking the wrong cat died needed to die on the vine back in 2019 and i haven't changed my mind since#EDIT: and another thing...Gus...did nothing wrong that we know of - not counting the revival he isn't even *involved* in the shunning#of grizabella - even *asparagus* isn't involved in that much because the performer has dipped off stage#he literally is just brought in has no idea where he is and leaves - he doesn't *need* to be forgiven to achieve acceptance in his society#there is nothing to forgive him *for*

"Oh, but of course the story of Adam and Eve was only ever symbolic, wasn't it? Symbolic?!
So Jesus had himself tortured and executed for a symbolic sin by a non-existent individual?
Nobody not brought up in the faith could reach any verdict other than 'barking mad'"
-- Richard Dawkins
Funny how for 1500+ years, none of the thousands of theologians throughout history knew it was "symbolic" until they couldn't deny the evidence for evolution any more. And then instead of being simply wrong, it somehow remained correct but in a different way.
Since the Adam and Eve story in the first few pages of the bible is symbolic and a metaphor, then the very first thing we ever learn about "Lord" is that he's symbolic and metaphorical. And the bible never breaks in-universe continuity to tell you otherwise. Indeed, the entire rest of the book appears to be based and depend upon, the events of Genesis 1-3 within the same metaphorical/symbolic fictional universe.
So Xians, instead of asking you to prove your god exists, answer this much simpler question: from which chapter onwards is the bible actually true?
